So , this post will let you know the story of the Emoji’s..

EmojiOver 1 Billion users globally use Whatsapp and Facebook had 1.79 billion monthly active users. And all use Emoji’s to express there feelings.

Believe or not but these came into Existence in 1999. Almost all Social Networking sites like Facebook , Twitter , Instagram have Emoji’s. They are considered as the best means to communicate with each character having different expressions. In 2013 Emoji is added as a word in the Oxfard Dictionary. It is estimated that these are used by almost 92 percent of the Online Population according to the EmojiReport of 2015.

From the simple cute Smiley Face with Square Mouth and inverted V’s for Eyes , Lovable Hearts and Angry Faces there are almost 1800 types of characters available till now and many more are launching day by day. We all know that without Emoji’s there would be no fun on any of the Social Networking Sites of the world.


These are the iconic Japanese images. Whatever is the condition or emotion , people use Emoji’s to express there feelings. They are considered as the Integral part of the Smartphone Age.

Man Behind Emoji

Shigetaka Kurita , is the man who created these Emoji’s.

He provided the other way to communicate with the help of these little images.


Kurita sketched the first Emoji while working at NTT DOCOMO in 1999 and it was the yellow smiley face which is widely used by us today.


Kurita was experimenting that how to make the information available ( like the weather forecast) to small screens of the Mobile Phones of that time.


The Umbrella and Sun (both open and closed) are also his earliest creations.

These became more and more popular after the Popularity of the Smartphone Messaging and texting.

It’s considered as the world’s fastest growing language.

London translation agency was advertising first emoji translator to help meet the challenges posed by these.


In June 2016, 72 more Emoji’s had launched.

Popularly and mostly used from these is the one with Tears of The Joy given below.Emoji
